Kate Egan, Soprano

Kate Egan, soprano, holds degrees in vocal performance from the University of Minneapolis and the Eastman School of Music. A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, she moved to Anchorage five years ago after beginning her career in New York City. While in New York, Kate sang with the New York City Opera, the Philip Glass Ensemble, the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, the Orchestra of St. Luke's and the American Composer's Orchestra (both at Carnegie Hall), among others. A versatile performer, Kate is equally at home in opera, operetta and musical theatre. She has been in demand with regional opera companies for roles ranging from her favorite, Susanna, in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, to Adele in Die Fledermaus and Anna in "The King & I." Kate made her official Anchorage Festival of Music debut last summer in the Broadway concert and as a narrator in Grant Cooper's "Goldilocks" and "Rumplestiltskin." Previously, she had performed on two soirees for the Festival; a recital of the music of Kurt Weill with pianist, Juliana Osinchuk, and a recital of "funny songs" with John Fraser.
