Lorraine Dorsey, Oboe

As a busy freelance musician, Lorraine Dorsey is currently principal oboist with the West Virginia Symphony, the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, the Richmond (IN) Symphony Orchestra, the Seneca Chamber Orchestra, and the Lakeside Summer Symphony. She is also a member of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and is "first-call" substitute for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Dorsey earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and in 1981 became the first oboist to win a prize at the Fernand Gillet Performance Competition, a contest sponsored yearly by the International Double Reed Society.

In addition to her duties as an orchestral musician, Ms. Dorsey has had extensive chamber music experience and has appeared as a featured soloist over a dozen times with the orchestras of which she is a member.

A resident of Cincinnati, Lorraine also plays English horn and oboe d'amore, and this past season performed as the English horn soloist with the Seneca Chamber Orchestra.
