The established goals of the Anchorage Festival of Music are to:

• Stimulate and expand our Alaskan artistic resources;
• Provide the opportunity for local musicians to study and perform with professional guest artists;
• Increase appreciation of classical music;
• Bring music to those who would otherwise not be able to attend a performance at the concert hall (physically or economically disadvantaged);
• Increase Anchorage’s cultural appeal and visibility as a tourist destination;
• Afford the Anchorage community the opportunity to hear unique repertoire, which is not presented by other local organizations.

To reach these goals, the Anchorage Festival of Music also promotes greater involvement of student musicians through the Young Alaskan Artist Award and to extend this cultural advantage to other Alaskan communities through performance outreach.
